Rhyl Pumping Station, Dwr Cymru [Welsh Water
We installed 3 x 132 kW horizontally mounted sewage pumps and 4 x 250 kW horizontal storm pumps in the new pumping station to meet the need for increased storm water capacity and to improve solids handling capabilities.
"Since the Hidrostal pumps were installed and commissioned in 1998 they have not blocked. This has resulted in a considerable reduction in the operation and maintenance costs as compared with the old pumping station's dry well submersible pumps which blocked continuously". Team Leader, Dwr Cymru
Sandal WwTw Inlet Pumping Station, Yorkshire Water Services
We supplied six Hidrostal pumps [four No F10Ks (10 inch) and two No F06Ks (6 inch)] to solve blockage problems
“Until we had the Hidrostal pumps installed we suffered continuously with blocked pumps. Under dry weather flows the duty pump had to be unblocked once per week. Under storm conditions all three pumps would require unblocking….. The Hidrostal pumps were selected because of their non-blocking capability, I was sceptical at first because they were so much smaller than the previously installed pumps, however, they have proved to be as blockage free and as efficient as was claimed. The pumps are working well, we are very pleased." Operations Supervisor, Yorkshire Water
Midland Slurry Ltd
We supplied the submersible pumps and did the mechanical and electrical installation for the two new pumping stations at the Castlepoint Shopping Centre on behalf of Midland Slurry, who were the company responsible for managing the effluent disposal for the site.
'”When undertaking projects of this kind you need to have around you people who are specialists in their field and will back-up and support you. Hidrostal succeed on all counts. Their engineers are knowledgeable and their products are first-class. They are able to take responsibility for everything from initial sizing and design of the pumps through to the installation and testing..” Managing Director, Midland Slurry Systems
Comet Tankers
We supplied Comet Tankers with our self-priming diesel driven pump set – Betsy.
"When we decided to expand our Flood Relief Service and set up our new division, Comet Pump Hire, we looked for a pump supplier that could offer us a versatile, mobile pumping package that was suitable for both planned and emergency pumping. The Hidrostal Betsy pump was the ideal choice particularly as we needed something capable of pumping virtually anything without blocking - including rag laden sewage which is an important consideration in flooding situations. I was also impressed with how quietly the pump ran. As a 24/7 service, it's good to know we don't have to worry about noise in residential areas." Managing Director, Comet Tankers
Farmers Fresh, Kenilworth
We supplied the abattoir with a Hidrostal pump and self cleaning sump to replace the pump that handled all the wash down from the abattoir and forward pumped it to the filtering screen… as this is some 3000 sheep a day the pump has to be efficient!
‘I am very impressed with the efficiency of the Hidrostal pump… it is performing brilliantly and has already paid for itself. Our old pump had to be continually monitored as it suffered repeatedly from blockages and broke down at least three to four times a week. The mechanical problems were compounded by the blanket of fat and guts that accumulated on the surface of the liquid and got left behind when the pump cycle had finished. … The sump cleaning action of the Hidrostal pump means we no longer have to manually clean the sump after every pump cycle which can occur up to 20 to 30 times a day … the sump is now cleaned
automatically …reducing our costs and giving us trouble free pumping!”
Maintenance Manager, Farmers Fresh
Alfred McAlpine
We provided a “Specialist Hire” solution to Alfred McAlpine to help solve mixing problems. The hire package included a number of 400mm pumps complete with starters, separate priming systems and Variable Frequency Drives fitted into purpose built containers.
“Finding a supplier who understood the application and was able to provide emergency pumps that could manage the requirement and supply quickly was not a simple task. However, Hidrostal has proven to be an excellent choice. Their expertise solving complex pumping problems together with their specialist hire capability is considerable and has meant that what could have been a critical situation has been averted” Technical Support Engineer, McAlpine
Barhale Construction
Our specialist pump hire service was recently deployed by Barhale Construction to assist in the restoration of the water supply to a major reservoir.
‘”The solution and equipment supplied by Hidrostal is working extremely well. All major pump suppliers were contacted but only Hidrostal were able to provide a solution that would pump at maximum capacity in the limited space available in the existing shaft. What is more, the over-pumping system was operational
in less than four weeks from contract award” Contracts Manager, Barhale
Skanska
We supplied three Hidrostal FO6Ks immersible pumps on guide rails and undertook the mechanical and electrical installation of the pumps in the pumping station at the new Walsgrave Hospital complex. The project also included putting in place over pumping to continue the flow of storm water whilst the new pumps were installed.
‘‘This is the first time I have worked with Hidrostal and I was very impressed with the pro-active way they approached the project. As with all projects there were a number of surprises. When the station was drained, prior to installation, it was discovered that the pump chamber was not an off-line installation as we initially anticipated but an online installation. This meant that a different by-pass pump had to be sourced to directly pump the incoming water during the works. Hidrostal’s immediate understanding of the situation and their rapid response ensured that the pump installation went ahead as scheduled. Project Manager, Skanska
Blakes Lock, Reading, Thames Water/Engenica
We supplied five Hidrostal screw centrifugal impeller pumps, each coupled with a 200 kW premium efficiency motor supplied by WEG Electric Motors (UK) Limited to replace pumps that were constantly blocking and causing maintenance costs to rise substantially.
“As the majority of Reading’s sewage network enters Reading Sewage Treatment Works via Blakes Lock pumping station, it is critical that the pumps are reliable and efficient to ensure that there is no flood risk to Reading Town Centre. Before replacing the pumps with Hidrostal we had constant problems with the pumps blocking and maintenance costs were rising substantially. Since installing the Hidrostal pumps we are no longer suffering from blockage problems” Project Manager, Thames Water/Engenica
