Pumping Sludge

    The Hidrostal screw centrifugal pump technology has revolutionalised the application of centrifugal pumps for sludge pumping.    The non-clogging construction of the Hidrostal screw centrifugal impeller, combined with the wide choice of build materials available, ensures that the pumps can efficiently handle all types of sludges, up to 8% DSC , without suffering from blockages.  As a result, Hidrostal pumps offer low maintenance and deliver real life cycle cost savings.   A fact that is recognised by the numerous UK Water Utilities who have awarded framework agreements with us for sludge pumping applications.

    Return Activated Sludge [RAS] pumping

    Another key benefit of the screw centrifugal impeller is its low shear properties which makes it ideal for pumping Return Activated Sludge [RAS].  The single spiral vane is approximately three times longer than the vane in a conventional waste water pump so liquid takes three times longer to pass through the impeller from entrance to exit.  The impeller geometry means that there is a long slow turn from axial to radial direction with significantly lower acceleration and deceleration of the flow.  The gentle passage through the pump means that there is no damage to the floc when pumping RAS which is often the primary concern of the process engineer.

    The Hidrostal pump is available in many forms:  submersible, immersible and end suction  - horizontally or vertically mounted, electric or diesel driven self-priming, etc.   For high head transfer via long pipelines, series pumping can be employed.  Solutions can be found for any installation,
